Nashville has grown significantly as a city over the last decade, from the dozens of relocated corporate headquarters to the renaissance of downtown Nashville. And as Nashville has evolved, the Metro Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) has followed suit by expanding programs, services and partnerships at Nashville International Airport (BNA) and John C. Tune Airport. As a result, BNA earned the following honors in Airport Revenue News’ 2009 Best Airport & Concession Awards: Best Concessions Management Team, Airport with the Best Customer Service, and Airport with the Most Unique Services. All awards were in the medium airport division.
MP&F was selected as the MNAA’s agency of record in June 2008. The scope of services specified by the contract included drafting and executing a public relations, advertising and media buying plan that encompasses print and radio ads; providing media relations support to the Authority’s executives; and assisting with special events and projects as needed.
We have done that, and much more. MNAA has tapped us for a range of tasks: providing media training to top-level staff, drafting new scripts for terminal announcements, preparing a community outreach plan, providing strategic counsel and other communications support when needed, and preparing for and assisting with community presentations.
Design projects have included the 2007 and 2008 annual reports; the award-winning 2008 Consolidated Annual Financial Report; Legislative Update, a newsletter sent to elected officials; Connections, a quarterly newsletter; a one-pager about MNAA; and new print advertisements. MP&F also assisted with the development of MNAA’s first-ever electronic newsletter, AIReport.
MP&F has provided communications assistance with numerous special events at BNA, including a mandatory disaster drill coordinated by local, state and federal government agencies; the annual media day, attended by reporters from various outlets in Middle Tennessee; the annual State of the Airport address; and the ongoing work to improve the roadways and terminal interior at BNA.
We have been proud to partner with Sue Atkinson of Atkinson Public Relations, John Denson of Denson & Associates, Sylvia Marcela Gómez of Hispanic Marketing Group, and Peter Woolfolk of Communication Strategies.
